Homelessness

Homelessness can happen to anyone, through family breakdown, bereavement or the onset of physical or mental illness. As a result, there are many people who, though no fault of their own are leading desperate and often isolated lives on the streets or in stopgap and often dilapidated accommodation: hostels, B&B's, and the corners of other people's front rooms.

The Bridge gives advice and support to people so that they can make the dream of having a roof over their head a reality and provide support to those who are vulnerably housed to help them feel secure.

The Bridge is made up of four key services, each fulfilling different needs for help and advice.

·         The Bridge Housing Advice Centre, to help with Housing Advice and legal issues

·         The Supported Tenancy & Resettlement Team (S.T.A.R.T.), to help clients who find it difficult to maintain a tenancy

·         The Family Mediation Service, to assist with issues that can lead to homelessness

·         The Christmas Shelter, open over the Christmas and New Year period for the homeless so that they don't need to spend the festive season on the street
