Lend and Loan a Mobile Phone

Donate your disused mobile phone to The Bridge

We’ve all got one, somewhere. Now you can do something worthwhile with it. We have recently launched a new appeal asking all Charnwood residents to donate their disused mobile phones to us. Our “Lend and Loan a Mobile Phone” scheme is a service which will enable vulnerably housed service users to have the opportunity of being loaned a mobile phone and improve their quality of life.

In today’s world it can be a surprise to some to come across others who do not own a mobile phone. But as a crucial communicating tool and a necessity in emergencies, particularly for vulnerable and often isolated clients who do not have access to a landline, we are asking you to check your drawers and store cupboards for that Nokia, Motorola or Samsung you had last year. Rather than gathering dust, let it make a difference to others!

We have identified that many of our service users do not own mobile phones and would greatly benefit from being able to loan a phone and a sim card to stay in contact with their Support Workers at The Bridge. As well as providing a crucial telephone service, we also want to promote service user’s independence and ensure effective support is provided.

If you have any mobile phones lying around with their charges and it is in good working condition, please donate them by dropping it off at The Bridge. Alternatively, please drop in to Loughborough Library on Granby Street or Loughborough University’s Students Union where you can donate your used phone there too.
