Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Bridge – together, we can make a difference!
The Bridge and Charnwood Citizens Advice Bureau are lead agencies for a new project called Charnwood Connect. Charnwood Connect is funded by the Big Lottery Fund to increase capacity and build resilience into social welfare advice provision across the Borough of Charnwood. Other key partners include Living Without Abuse, Youth Shelter, Human Rights & Equalities Charnwood, Loughborough University, PACE, John Storer Charnwood and Charnwood Borough Council.
As part of Charnwood Connect we are looking for people who can volunteer for a few hours each week and be part of a team providing services to help people who are vulnerably housed or at risk of homelessness,
We have a number of roles with The Bridge and with the other partner agencies (see above). Some roles involve working directly with clients e.g. providing advice, reception and information services. Other opportunities involve providing essential support such as administration, fundraising and organising donations.
Volunteering can help you:-
- develop transferable skills
- gain experience in this field
- have opportunities to move into other roles
- enhance your CV and gain current work experience
- Volunteering – the commitment needed, potential benefits and responsibilities
- The partner organisations you could volunteer with (e.g. The Bridge)
- The roles available for volunteers – some may involve contact with our clients
- Further training and preparation offered, including the opporunity to gain an NVQ
Charnwood Connect will offer preparation and training to prepare you to carry out your role. You will receive on-going support and guidance from the organisation you will be placed with. All agreed and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
If this is something for you, we would like to invite you to attend a Volunteer Workshop. As we are a partner of Charwnood Connect, you will also get to meet other potential volunteers interested in helping us and other Charnwood Connect partners. The next Volunteer Workshops will take place on Tuesday 9th September 2014. There is a morning session, 9.30am – 12.00noon and an afternoon session, 12.30pm – 3.00pm.
